I recently cked into Churchtree.to see if there was anything new. A boy was I surprised to see the pictures of Under the Bridge. When we moved back to Petersburg (64-65)
we would go tubing in the river and swimming at Acesabalds
Pond.I hope to send a few photos of my grandmother Florence Church Stevens Elgiezer & Uncle Phil .the hse was next to
the sewing factory. And seeing her photo in the Church Family Reunion.I"ve been trying to trace relatives for
my Children & Grandchildren. My father was Victor S.Stevens
only son of Florence Church & Samuel S.Stevens.Hope to hear from any family members.

I was so glad to see your web site and blog.  I am a direct decendent of "Yankee" John Church who came to NC c.1750.  He had several sons and there is a large contingent of us in NW North Carolina.  "Yankee" John is Patriot of the American Revolution as is his son Amos who served with the Overmountain Men at Kings Mountain.  There has been much research of the Church family in NC and it has been determined that we are decendents of Richard Church who arrived in 1636.  We are very proud of the Church name since it is fairly uncommon in most parts of the US.  There are some cousins who went to Canada many decades ago and they come to Ashe County, NC for the reunion of the Southern Church family.  You folks are also welcome to come and bring your genealogy info.

When my daughter married she opted to keep her maiden name hyphenated with her married name as did her oldest child.  We are a proud Church family.

Brand New
Topic: Genealogy

Hello.

I'm new to geneaology, but got a tip to check out this website from a distant relative I found through Ancestry.com.

I'm the great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandson of John and Hannah Church (John > Nathaniel > Peter > Eliphalet > Schuyler > Henry > Lewis > Howard > my mother).

I've just begun delving into this site, but I think it is incredible, and thank you greatly for putting it together.  It's simply wonderful.

I am researching my mother's side of the family. Her grandmother was Ada Church Jones Perham(1884-1959). She was married to William H. Jones (1880-1920). I have found this website invaluable as far as the Church family goes. I am making progress on the Jones family, but this is not easy considering how many Jones families there are in Rensselaer County. What would help is tracking down some of the other branches that lead into the Jones family. I am looking for info on the following surnames: Jones, Bickford, O'Dell, and Tucker. If anyone has info on these families from the Petersburg/Grafton/Berlin area please contact me at the listed email. Thank you very much!!

According to my research, Richard & Hanna did arrive in Massachusetts in 1636. Stayed for a while and was asked to leave because of some difference with the local church. They left the coloney with Thomas Hooker and went to Rhode Island and were asked to leave there also. Both families along with a large group of others founded the City of Hartford, Conn. They stayed a few years and after Richard was declared a free man the family along with the Montague Family moved up the Connecticut river and founded the town of Hadley Mass where he and family members are buried today. Correct me if I am wrong Please

Frank & Myrtle Church Home

As I sit here in Frank & Myrtle Church's home (known to the Neaton family as Grandmother and Grandfather Church though no relatives) I find myself in awe and shedding tears as I read the web site. What memories. The Church family and the Well's families were alway close and now that the Church family has "moved" from Petersburgh those ties are only found at burials, through death notices or if I am lucky an encounter at a store and now I can go into the web stie and be updated.
Frank and Myrtles home will be open, as it always was to anyone who passes through, just knock on the door.
Bless you for the work and such a great site.
